Welcome to KVG German Shepherds, a small kennel specializing in training, competing, and breeding Working Line German Shepherds for sport, family and hobby.
KVG dogs have the potential to excel in Search and Rescue, SAR, the sport of IGP, various CKC events, private Patrol & Security duties in the workforce, and or, simply Loyal Family Companions.
I am a member of the CKC, Canadian Kennel Club, as well as a registered breeder with the CKC. I belong to the GSSCC, German Shepherd Schutzhund Club of Canada, and reside as president of our local IGP club, K9 Utility Cranbrook Working Dog Club; a non-profit club dedicated to training dogs for sport.

I train my dogs for fun, for sport, for competition, for myself! I do not offer training services nor do I sell trained adult dogs. All dogs that are or were part of the KVG program remain on site and are retired at home, at the KVG Senior K9 Sanctuary, to fully live out the rest of their lives.

Occasionally, I do have older dogs to 'rehome.' Check back often! Or send me an e-mail specifically requesting to be added to my waitlist for older dogs that become available.
All dogs are my personal companion, and IGP sport dogs; my dogs are "H.O.T", Handler, Owner, Trained or B.H.O.T, Breeder, Handler, Owner, Trained, live inside my home, and are an active part of my life.
Please see my achievements page, for the dogs that I have trained, and titled.

Please contact me for further information regarding my dogs, and upcoming breeding plans including available puppies.
All KVG dogs undergo mandatory, and optional HEALTH testing, and are screened for: hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, degenerative myelopathy, transitional vertebra, osteochondritis dissecans, food allergens, as well as DNA tested via EMBARK for genetically inherited diseases such as Scott Syndrome.
All dogs are bred in accordance with, the BREEDER'S CODE OF ETHICS, as mandated by the CKC, Canadian Kennel Club.
All dogs are bred in accordance with the WUSV, WORLD UNION FOR THE GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG, an international organization that is the regulatory body for breeding German shepherd dogs according to the rules and regulations of ethical breeding and the harmonization program.

I train all of my dogs for the sport of IGP, and strive to compete, certify, and title each dog that is part of my breeding program. Training a dog, tremendously helps me evaluate each dog's character and temperament. For a list of clubs in Canada, please visit www.gsscc.ca
Health Testing
SV - Germany
Once of age, each dog is x-rayed, and the x-rays are sent to Germany for official certification of the hips, elbows, transitional vertebrae, and osteochondritis dissecans. This is known as the "A Stamp" program and all results are verified and visible on Working- Dog.com As part of the WUSV harmonization program, OFA evaluations are no longer acceptable by GSD breed clubs belonging to the WUSV.
EMBARK
All KVG dogs undergo genetic DNA testing for over 270 canine genetic diseases via the test EMBARK.
SV - DNA Kit Registration
All KVG dogs have had their DNA collected, and all dogs are either DNA Stored, and or DNA Tested.
-Captain Max von Stephanitz-
“Take this trouble for me: make sure my shepherd dog, remains a working dog, for I have struggled all my life for that aim."
“Those who breed and do not train are like the blind trying to describe color.
-Dr. Helmult Raiser-
-Captain Max von Stephanitz-
"The coloring of the dog has no significance whatever for service; our shepherd dog accordingly is not bred for color. Coloring, therefore, is only a fad of the amateur and as such is often liable to changes of whim."
-Captain Max von Stephanitz-
"Breeding should never be made with animals that are not in work. The proof of the education of the dog for work is a necessity for admission for breeding, rather than Show honors, which afford a very misleading idea of a dog’s value for breeding."
